The week between Christmas and New Years has always been like a Sabbath rest for me, even before I really knew Christ. Since we are now in a relationship, He has made this time even more meaningful.

This is not a biblical/theological Sabbath week. It is simply an agreed upon vacation with my Lord. Together we reflect on the year just past, our relationship, our struggles, our blessings, how we grew, and many other aspects of our life together. By "our life together" I mean my life with Jesus.

Another aspect of this time together is our planning for the future. Actually, I plan, He directs (Proverbs 16:9). He talks to me regarding what he would have me to do during the upcoming year. I try to listen and understand.

All in all, the goal is to walk closer together in the future, to understand who we are together, and to make a positive impact in our world on behalf of the kingdom of heaven.

"May the Lord direct your hearts into God's love and Christ's perseverance." - 2 Thessalonians 3:5 NIV
